It started with the arms…

I had the arms of this top already as I’d decided aginst them for the top shown in the previous post. That decided the pattern – had to be Quiala. I thought the colours were good enough to go with the Kim trousers but once it was made up I wasn’t so sure, so ended up making a skirt too!

The skirt is a modified version of the A-line gored skirt from the Modkids book. I added some box pleats in contrasting fabric. I wanted something that looked like the new pattern ‘Amilia’ from Frau Liebstes and thought I could wing it.

Fabric from Crafty mamas.

Farbenmix Kim

I have long loved this pattern from afar. I especially love this version from an old tablecloth  by Tin Can Daisy. Alas my Farbenmix pattern collection is, ahem *coughs*, healthy to say the least. I was so delighted when Chris at Artig was selling off some of her patterns. Whooppee!

I couldn’t wait to try this funky pattern out for myself and all other sewing plans went on hold. The fabric is some gorgeous Hilco pinwale cord from Crafty Mamas and the lovely pink dots came from Dots n stripes in the UK when I was over last year. The ribbons, as always, came from Katrina at Lucy and Lulu. The embroidery on the pocket was left over from when I made this Encinitas last year.

This is my first working fly. I followed this tutorial via google translate.

The top is a Farbenmix Quiara I made last year. Luckily it was warm enough today to wear them together but I really need to make a long sleeved top to go with them.
